First Church in Boston - Unitarian Universalist
Thank you for visiting our website. We warmly invite you to join us for worship and fellowship!
Our worship services are held on Sundays at 11:00 am; coffee hour follows. We have Religious Education classes for children (ages 4-12), youth (ages 13-18), and free childcare for those under 3. Our services are broadcast live and online on 88.9 FM WERS or Emerson College Radio.
As Unitarian Universalists, we encourage lifelong spiritual growth through free religious thought and expression. For nearly four centuries, First Church in Boston has stood for freedom of the spirit and religious tolerance. Located in Boston’s Back Bay, our congregation strives to be a vibrant, friendly city church, embodying the ideals of Unitarian Universalism and Social Justice. Our recent mission trips to New Orleans NOLA will show you the camaraderie and sense of community that is fostered within our church by partaking in such worthy mission.
First gathered in 1630, we are still gathering in friendship, freedom and love. We are the oldest church in Boston, with our history dating back to 1630, when John Winthrop and his party stepped off the Arabella in what is now present day Charlestown and signed the first Covenant. Continuing the spirit of gathering within the church, our Women’s Spirituality Groups and Men’s Groups meet regularly throughout the year, as do the Young Adults Group.
