Where love and wisdom meet.
We warmly welcome you to First Church in Boston, a friendly, vibrant church, open hearted and open minded. First Church is a Meeting Place for the independent spirit, and we hope you'll join us in worship, fellowship, and the hope of justice!
Join us Sundays for worship at 11:00am
Rev. Stephen Kendrick
Stephen writes..."In all the controversy over the movie Selma, about the truth of the relationship between President Johnson and MLK,Jr., I got to thinking about the role of religious troublemakers through history--and about one in particular, a certain fellow who remains a troublemaker for religious liberals, named Jesus. We UU's frankly mostly leave the guy alone, happy to let more conservative believers attempt to define him. The problem is that they don't seem to actually know who he was, and why he matters, and why the political and religious powers of his time hated him so much. Enough to kill him. As Martin Luther King died in our own time, and Gandhi, and on and on...Some things never change, and one of these is our need for troublemakers. (This is the service, music and all, that was snowed out several blizzards ago--Paul and the choir had prepared special music, so we did not want this service to go to waste...!)"
We have amazing things happening in March, including making SUPERHERO PUPPETS and making VIDEOS of our puppet shows! We know these days it takes super-powers like dedication, strength, and determination to get to First Church, but it will be worth it! You are also welcome to invite friends and neighbors with children to attend.
