"On the day when we hold our Annual Meeting, I will reflect on the principles of democracy in our congregation and our nation. In the United States, we often despair over the effectiveness of our government. Are we truly a democracy? Did we ever live up to the ideals of the Founding Fathers?
The fifth principle of Unitarian Universalism reads “We covenant to affirm and promote the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.” The practice of democracy requires faith in order to be truly effective.
All members and friends are invited to our Annual Meeting immediately following the service. First Church in Boston is self-governed. Come actively participate in shaping our religious community."
