Hold fast to dreams
for if dreams die
life is a broken-winged bird
that cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
for when dreams go
life is a barren field
frozen with snow. –Langston Hughes

This poem is one of my favorites. Langston Hughes reminds us that dreaming is not a passive activity. “Hold fast to dreams”. Hold on as if your life depends upon it, because it does. As Hughes writes so powerfully, a life of abandoned dreams is barren and cold like a field frozen with snow. Hughes paints a bleak picture of an existence that has little color, movement, or vitality.

To have a vision, to look beyond what is to what is possible, gives life wings offering us inspiration and direction. What is your vision for the future? Come to a service exploring the power of vision to shape our lives and to create a better world.
