Twenty years ago, in another world and another church, I did a three part sermon series on the increasing pace of time in our lives--and recently, in cleaning up my office (no, I'm not done--but I'm making progress!), I re-read them. It turns out that not only have things only increased in speed, but that I was a minor prophet!
In my opinion, one of the great issues in the spiritual life is, and has always been, the mystery of time. It is a mystery we can never solve (even the great scientists are perplexed by the paradoxes of time)--but we are forced to live out in full and unfolding experience. It also appears that attitudes towards time deeply affect our happiness and our effectiveness in living.
