“The church does not HAVE an educational program, the church IS an educational program.” This well known quote from religious educator Maria Harris has guided Ruth’s work in religious education for the past 13 years.  Ruth came to First Church in Boston after more than ten years leading the religious education program at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, New Jersey.  She has a BA from Cornell University, a Masters in Education from Boston University and has done post-graduate work in theology at Meadville Lombard Theological School.

Ruth’s goal is to create opportunities for children, youth and adults to learn, grow spiritually and serve the wider community.  Ruth lives in Cambridge with her husband Pete.  Between them they have five children and two grandchildren.
