Canvass Committee

Charged with raising the Church’s operating funds, the Canvass Committee conducts an annual canvass, or fund drive, of its members and friends each fiscal year.  The Committee strives to make all parishioners financial contributors, as they are able, in the work of the church through a canvass that is inspirational, educational and community building.
The Canvass Committee’s short and longer term goals for 2007-2008 are:
1. Raise at least $275,000 in the canvass.
2. Educate parishioners to better understand the financial needs of First Church in order to increase member contributions, build community, achieve healthy growth and sustain long term financial stability.
3. Create greater financial transparency to better illustrate how church funds from the Society and the Trustees are allocated each year.
4. Participate in the newly-created First Church Finance Committee that acts as a financial umbrella overseeing the canvass, the budget process, special fundraising projects and other financial needs as they arise.
