Membership Committee

To build the membership of our church community, assimilate new members into active participation in our church, and to maintain and encourage the continuing participation of present members in the church community.

2006-2007 Projects

1. Narthex Project - to create a welcoming environment for people entering the church, and to increase the sense of community among members.
Installation of a welcome sign and the UU principles at the entry of the narthex.
Would like to add some signs indicating where the sanctuary, chapel, sanctuary balcony, and church school/child care rooms are.
Would like to create a display where new members and important milestones in the lives of church members are posted.
Would like to create a display where the schedule of church and community events is posted, i.e. Learning Community, concerts, lectures, special services etd.

2. All-Church Pot Luck dinner in December - to increase a sense of community among members.

3. Members Handbook - to help members understand our church and its workings, and to encourage greater participation in the life of the church.
Hopefully will be completed by the end of this church year.

4. New Members Luncheon - to welcome new members into the church on New Members Sunday. To encourage a sense of church community.

5. Continuing Practices - to welcome visitors and new members, to encourage participation in the church community.
Greeters Training - led by Ruth Owen, to make the way we welcome visitors to Sunday morning services as warm, friendly and helpful as possible.
Welcome letter to each new member.
Assignment of a “buddy” to each new member, to answer questions and to make that person feel especially welcomed.
