Children’s Religious Education
The mission of the Children and Youth Religious Education Committee is to nurture a Unitarian Universalist perspective of the world for our children and youth. Our goals are:
• To foster our young people’s U.U. identity.
• To develop and implement programming to teach about our U.U. heritage
• To educate our young people about diverse religious and cultural perspectives.
• To develop in our young people and appreciation of social, religious, cultural, racial, economic and affectional diversity.
• To encourage our young people to recognize the interdependent nature of life on earth and their roles and responsibilities in it.
• To ground our educational programming in a multi-generational church community that will support our young people in their spiritual and religious development.
This year we have established monthly get-togethers for RE families. These include breakfasts when the weather is cold and playground outings in the warmer seasons.
We continue to work on communications with an email list that we hope will become a listserve next year.
Our goals include establishing a family friendly space in the balcony during services, making it possible for parents to enjoy coffee hour in a more relaxed way and working to integrate especially our youth better with our community outreach such as UU Urban Ministries.
